May 6th and 7th - Kick-off parties were held at the Gateway Elks Lodge and the Outer Rim Bicycle Shop to send Scot on his epic bicycle journey accross the nation

The first day of Scot's ride was from the steps of the Oregon State Capital in Salem to the Outer Rim Bicycle Shop in Portland.  Several friends and supporters accompanied Scot. They ranged in age from young to older and some were physically challenged.

The first leg of the ride starts in Salem Oregon and winds its way eastward through the northern tier states until it ends up in Washing DC at the end of October 2011
